Hydrogen For Cars Represents Way The Ahead

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 by by Adrian Fletcher

As gas prices continue to rise with seemingly no end in sight, energy experts, energy commissions and the people on the street are all looking at every potential alternatives to reliance on gas. One particularly promising option is hydrogen fuel cells. Hydrogen car fuel is not just a subject for exploring new energy horizons it opens up new possibilities in our mode of travel.

Research into hydrogen fuel is quickly proving it’s potential as a leading resource to replace fossil fuels. It is a naturally occurring element that is found in many things including water to many products you will find in your garden. Its abundance in nature means it has a great potential and is seen as a valuable resource that can be tapped into to meet the growing demand for a cheap, clean and reliable source of energy.

Methods for producing hydrogen fuel for cars can vary, but they are all quite efficient and much cleaner than is fossil fuel production. For instance, a gasoline production refinery requires 300 billion gallons of water to produce that fuel, but if it produced the same amount of hydrogen, it would only need one million gallons of water.

The equivalent gallon of gas to hydrogen costs roughly half the price of gasoline while yielding over two thirds better fuel economy. Hydrogen for cars also reduces engine operating temperatures and virtually eliminating emissions and the dreaded carbon footprint.

Availability of hydrogen for cars is currently a big drawback for production of hydrogen- fueled vehicles. The possibilities of home hydrogen fueling stations is a reality but at the time of the writing of this article, not an affordable one for every home.

If cars were to run exclusively on electricity generated on board from hydrogen fuel a new paradigm in vehicle design would emerge. The equipment needed to propel a car would be much more basic, and smaller doing away with many design limitations. Some of these limitations include having to design around a heat-producing engine, and bulky floorboard configurations that currently are required for driveline equipment.

Hydrogen for cars will become more cost effective as hydrogen production increases, creating a new era of energy consumption. Using hydrogen will decrease society’s dependence on fossil fuels, an added benefit for the environment. The reality is that gas prices will not retreat much from this current high mark, which will only increase the pace at which hydrogen fueled cars and the equipment needed to make them a reality develops.

What a Customer Should Look for in Their Xenon Bulbs Purchase

Posted on June 21st, 2009 by by Ethan Melandri

HID xenon bulbs are normally expected to last around 3000 hours, however when its time to buy replacement xenon bulbs, drivers often find that they are faced with a bewildering array of options.

The price and selection of replacement xenon bulbs also varies quite considerably depending on where you buy them from, be it the a main dealer, a high street accessory shop or an online specialist.

Array of Colour: the HID Xenon Bulbs

When buying new xenon bulbs you may have noticed that they have different colour temperatures listed next them, for example 6000k, 8000k or even 140000k. The K stands for Kelvin and it is the unit used to measure the colour emitted by xenon bulbs.

Some individuals believe colour temperature means that is the heat created by the light bulb. This is not true. Instead, all xenon light bulbs have the same levels of heat. For example a 14000K bulb will be the same temperature as the 6000K bulb.

The colour temperature of xenon bulbs starts at around 4000K and normally rises to a 14000k, listed below are the colours that a xenon bulb will emit for a given colour temperature.

* 4000k – white light with a yellow tint

* 6000k – Completely white

* 8000k – white light with a blue tint

* 12000k – Mild purple in the white light

Buying the xenon lights solely based on colour is not the best way to replace your used bulbs. Instead you need to understand the effects of the various tinting. The higher the temperature of colour is in the xenon light the lower light you actually get. When comparing 4000K to 8000K the difference in light power is not great; however when going to 12000K there is a significant change in the amount of light.

Measurement of light is in lumens (lm). Standard lights on a vehicle are at 4300K and 3200lm. With a 12000K light bulb you get 30 percent less illumination, which is 2,200lm. If you decide on a deep purple bulb you need to understand that the light projection will be much less than regular xenon bulbs.

When it comes to deciding where to buy your HID xenon bulbs you can make considerable savings if you are prepared to shop around. The growth of online car bulb retailers has lead to a serious reduction in the price you would normally expect to spend on a replacement car bulb.

For example, if you wanted to buy an original equipment E1 approved HID xenon bulb like the Osram Xenarc, you would be charged anything up to 200 from a manufacturer main dealer, whilst the same identical bulb can be found for around 70 on specialist online car bulb sites.

A last point that should be made is that the HID Xenon Bulbs operate at a high voltage. If you have never replaced one of these bulbs before or feel uncomfortable about the replacement you will want to have a professional auto personnel install the bulb. A nasty shock could burn out the new bulb or harm you.

Using vehicles as a means of artistic expression is not something that is all that new. In fact, it is quite popular in many parts of the world.

There have been many types of vehicles used for artistic expression in North America, but the practice has spread to other countries and continents including several Asian Countries. They came up with their own forms of art. A lot of the times you will see such works of art within nations that are experiencing some sort of conflict, or even war that has torn their country to shreds. This may be the reason for the existence of these works of art. They are known as Jingle Trucks because of the chains that hang off of them creating a sort of jingling sound.

These jingle trucks are commonly found in places like India and Afghanistan. They are heavily decorated with an assortment of bright colors and decorative items. They are quite commonly seen all over the place. Often the artist will also hang some pendants or other trinkets from the truck as well. You can find scenes from an entire tapestry all over just one truck.

It is nothing short of amazing when you get the chance to examine the insane amount of detail that is put into these vehicles.

The intrigue of these vehicles might be due to the fact that they are the only thing of color within the desolation of a place like Afghanistan. The pictures on these vehicles show wonderful scenes such as running water and lush grassland, and it is virtually nowhere to be seen in such a place. The colors on these vehicles are always bright stand out. This ensures that everyone around will want to see the artistic spectacle. They are truly a one of a kind phenomenon in that environment.

It is often believed that these artists are portraying their hopes and dreams of a great future in which everyone can get along and live in peace — although this is only an unofficial explanation.

In most cases the jingle trucks will display a type of paradise, being a form of Utopia wherein all can live in peace and get along regardless of race, color, or religion. Normally there are beautiful grasslands and beauty that are associated with a peaceful world. When one sees them, the first thing that they will think of is hope.
