Before long Tompion sensed his trainee’s gift for timekeeping devices, and taught him everything he needed to know to be successful in the watch making trade. Towards the end of his life he elevated his student to the standing of business partner.

Graham rocked the watch making scene with several spectacular inventions. He was given credit for siring the chronograph, but his greatest invention was the dead beat escapement created circa 1715. He became the first watchmaker of his time to be accepted into the Royal Society when he built the Master Clock for stargazers, as per the wishes of Greenwich Royal Observatory. In 1995 British Masters SA was formed and they have, since then, carried the torch of the pioneering watch maker forward with their brilliant watch designs.
